GIFT Nifty has reached a major milestone on the NSE International Exchange (NSE IX) at GIFT City, Gujarat, recording its highest-ever single-day turnover and open interest.
GIFT Nifty records $23.67 billion turnover
On September 25, 2026, GIFT Nifty recorded a record single-day turnover of $23.67 billion across 512,023 contracts. The achievement highlights rising international participation in Indian equity derivatives.
Open interest also reached a historic high of $21.87 billion, equivalent to approximately ₹2.10 lakh crore, across 471,287 contracts. The figures point to strong institutional interest and substantial open positions in Indian equities through the offshore market.
New records surpass previous benchmarks
The latest turnover record surpassed the previous high of $23.48 billion, set on February 20, 2026. Meanwhile, the new open-interest record exceeded the earlier peak of $21.56 billion, recorded on June 25, 2026.
NSE IX continues to expand at GIFT City
Since moving full-scale operations to GIFT City in July 2023, NSE IX has reported sustained growth. As of September 25, 2026, the exchange had recorded:
- Cumulative volume: More than 76.19 million contracts
- Cumulative turnover: $3.52 trillion

For macro traders and domestic market participants, GIFT Nifty’s record turnover and growing open interest indicate increasing global demand for exposure to Indian equities.
